Just for you, Duckie

I know I tend to say this over and over again. But sweet girl, mommy loves you so much. Anyway, it's been an exciting week for us, huh? I'm going to do my best to start taking just a few minutes to jot down the cutest things you do for the day so I can remember!! So many things happen during the week, it's hard to keep up with you girl!! :)

So, even though you started off the week by getting a nasty stomach bug, you were never phased (unless it was mid-vomit) and your cheery little self was all smiles! This week, you learned how to say "thank you!" which is pronounced more like "tank oooooouu" - LOVE IT! And you say it all the time, whether you're getting something or you're giving something to someone else! Awww - so sweet of you!!

This morning while we were getting ready to go out for the day, you looked at me in the mirror and said "Momma!" and then we pointed to Daddy and you said "ta-da" which literally sounded like "Dada" but with a "t" sound at the front. And then we asked who you were and you said "Ah-va" like the song, Ava Maria. YAY!!! Keep it up cutie pie - everyone loves to hear you shout their names with so much fervor!

Anyway, mommy is soooo sleepy right now but I wanted to squeeze in some of those priceless moments from the week. You melt my heart into one big ooey gooey mess of smushiness. I love you Duckie Marie. God has blessed me with the ultimate gift in you.

Here you are helping me grocery shop this week. Thanks baby, you're the best!

23 Months and Counting

My sweet Duckie is 23 months young today!! WOO HOO!! Precious little girl - she is such an angel! Always greeting people with a huge smile, vigorous waving and an enthusiastic "HI-eeee!" And if she's seen you more than once, she's likely to fully embrace both of your legs with a munchkin bear hug. There are no words that I can think of that describe my love for her. My heart is full of joy!!

Have I mentioned how much she LOVES shoes?? All shoes. My shoes, her shoes, her daddy's shoes, her cousins shoes, her friends' shoes. (I feel like a Dr. Seuss book - HA!)

So, this morning, as I was taking some stuff out to the car, I turned around to see this...

Yeah, I'm wearing your shoes mommy!

I. Am. Outta here!

More glorious pictures of this little shoe-obsessed cutie!!

Killer socks girlfriend.

Told ya!! HAHA!!

Okay, okay, so she does do other things than play with shoes all day and night. She's talking a lot now. Friday morning after kissing her daddy bye-bye, he said "I love you." And she responded, "toooo..." AWWWW!! Melt my heart why don't you?! Is there a better feeling than hearing your baby say "I love you too" for the first time ever?! I can't think I can think of one. :) My heart overflows with love for this adorable munchkin!!

Duckie, I will enjoy these last 30 days of you being me one year old!!

Fingerprint Friday

I probably say this a lot but I love this idea. Mainly because if we all just stop for a second from our crazy busy schedules, it is really easy to see God's hand in something around you. Something that seems so simple is really quite amazing.

There is a song by Steven Curtis Chapman that says:
I can see the fingerprints of God
When I look at you
I can see the fingerprints of God
And I know its true
You're a masterpiece
That all creation quietly applauds
And you're covered with the fingerprints of God

So look around you and see where YOU can see God's fingerprints. Is it in nature? Kids? Animals? Where do you see them?
Read more about Fingerprint Friday at The Rusted Chain.

This Friday I see God's fingerprints in:

My incredible husband, Mr. Schriewer, and my precious daughter, Duckie!

I love this man with every single ounce of my being. As in any marriage, we've seen ups and downs but every time I look at him, I can see God's fingerprints because we are together through it all. I am so thankful for the years we've spent together and am delighted to spend the rest of our lives together, growing closer together, growing closer towards God and loving our daughter as much as we possibly can. And with Duckie, well, that goes without saying. Children are life's simplest but most complex miracles from God. Just thinking about the physical process of God creating life from us is so overwhelming there are no words to describe it. All ten fingers and toes, each strand of hair on her head was perfectly designed by the ultimate Creator. And I am humbled by the gift of being her mother.

I hope today you are able to see God today.
Have a blessed weekend!

Embrace the Camera!

In my quest to get my weekly picture of me & Duckie, she gently let me know she wasn't fully into it this week (in part because she's been under the weather this week). I shouldn't have tried doing this with my icky iPhone camera in terrible light, but oh well, I'll post them anyway! :)

Trying again...

Clearly her mind was focused on something else...

Like attaching stickers to every single toe!!
Right before this, every single toe had a different smiley sticker on it!!

Love you Duckie!!

Gratitude Challenge

Since this is probably my third time to post, I'm not sure if I'm doing this right at all. But let's give this baby a try!

My friend Lindsay showed me this blog challenge. It's all about gratitude - gotta love that!

Speaking of Gindsay - that's what I call her - she awarded me this (even though I don't think I'm that versatile yet). But thanks anyway! She is truly the best. :)

These are the rules:

Thank and Link back to who gave you the award
Share 7 things about yourself
Pass it along to 7 blogs you've recently discovered and enjoyed
Leave your recipients a note telling them about their new, totally cool, award

7 Things About Myself:
• I wish I were four inches taller because my one year old is over half my height!
• Being a mother has made me realize things I never thought I'd understand.
• Before last month, running for a mile without stopping was hands-down impossible.
• Sometimes I think it would be fun to have 4 kids. :)
• I love to sing REALLY loud when I'm all alone in the car.
• My favorite foods come from potatoes.
